The Pain of Loss

Losing a significant person or a beloved pet can be a challenging and painful experience. If you find yourself here due to a loss or a bereavement, you might be grappling with feelings of numbness, despair, longing or anger.

Grief is a natural response to loss, but it can be an overwhelming, lonely and disorienting experience. If you’re struggling with a bereavement or another form of loss, you might want to consider therapy.

What is Bereavement & Grief Counselling?

Bereavement counselling, also known as grief therapy, a specific type of therapy. The primary focus of the sessions relates to the death or loss of a significant other or a beloved pet.

The aim of bereavement counselling is:

  • Process grief - Through expressing how you feel and making sense of your experience.
  • Improve well-being - Assist you in finding effective ways of coping with the challenges of grief.
  • Adjustment to life - Help you gradually adjust to life without that person or pet. Adjusting doesn’t mean letting go, but building your life around the loss so it becomes less intense. Shared memories, their influence and the bond you had with them remain an integral part of your life.
  • Unfinished business - If you had a relationship with the deceased that was complex, bereavement counselling can assist you with any unfinished business or mixed feelings surrounding your loss.
