Reiki in Durham and the North East

Reiki in Durham. This is a complementary therapy.

I am a Reiki Master Teacher based close to the centre of Durham. I offer both Reiki treatments as well as run courses so that you can learn how to do Reiki.

Reiki is a Japanese technique used for relaxing and balancing the mind, body and spirit.

Often in our our daily lives we accumulate stresses & tensions. Reiki is a complementary therapy that aims to reduce physical tensions and promote increased well-being. Booking a Reiki session is a chance for you to take some ‘you time’, especially if you find yourself busy and are left feeling depleted.

Reiki translates as ‘universal life force energy’. All living things consist of energy, and when events occur in life it is thought that areas in our energy systems can become reduced or blocked. Reiki is transmitted through the hands of a practitioner to you with the intention of creating a relaxed feeling and to restore balance.

I would transmit Reiki to you through a combination of light and no touch, although the full session can be done with no touch if you preferred. You will remain fully clothed throughout the session. Some people feel more comfortable with Reiki then some other therapies for this reason.

Reiki may help if you are:

  • Struggling with Anxiety & depression;
  • Feeling stressed;
  • Recovery from illness, injury or surgery;
  • In Pain
  • Caring for others;
  • Recovering from hard physical training;
  • Looking for a form of self-care.

I offer Reiki sessions by themselves or combined with counselling.

About me and Reiki

I was first introduced to Reiki at a time in my life when I was on a journey of self discovery. At the time I did not realise how important Reiki would become for my well-being and personal development. I continue to be amazed at the positive impact that Reiki has on had on both my own life and that of others. I remember attending my first Reiki session feeling both skeptical, curious and excited. I continued my Reiki journey to become a Reiki Master Teacher. This meant that in addition to being able to offer Reiki sessions I can also pass on the knowledge of using Reiki to others through running courses and workshops.

Reiki Courses & Training

If you would like to be able to give Reiki to yourself and others then you may like to consider taking one of my Durham Reiki classes or workshops.

There are four levels to Gendai Reiki training, however some people are happy to just undertake the first level and still gain a lot of benefit from it.

Level 1 (sho-den) introduces you to Reiki and gives you the tools to be able to use it as a method for your personal and spiritual development. This level enables you to give Reiki to yourself as well as to your family and friends.

Level 2 (Oku-den) is about deepening your connection to Reiki. This level enables you to practice Reiki on the public.

Level 3 (Shinpi-den) is focused on your personal & spiritual development.

Level 4 (Gokuikai-den) enables you to teach and give Reiki attunements to others.

If you are interested in learning Reiki please contact me.

Complementary therapy

Reiki is a complementary therapy and it is important that if you do suffer from a medical condition that you are also under the care of a medical professional. Reiki is used to complement regular treatment rather than to replace it.
